DIY: Scarf Vest

Happy hump day!! You've only got one more day my friends and then it is time for a little rest and relaxation out on the lake or out by the patio, grilling with the family for the 4th :) I'd like to share with you a little do it yourself tutorial that was brought to me by a customer last weekend. It seriously blew my mind and I think it will blow yours too!

I think by now most of us have a pretty large scarf collection. Scarfs are a great accessory whether it is spring, summer or fall. They can help add just a little extra something to an older outfit and bring a pop of color to a tee that needs some sprucing up. They are very affordable and and can completely update an outfit. With that being said, I'm going to teach you how you can take your favorite scarf and turn it into a vest for the day!!

The first step is to find a scarf that is rather large. Like I mentioned earlier most of us have a few of these in our closets, so you technically don't have to go out and buy anything! Of course, if you are looking for a fun and fabulous summer scarf Alibi Boutique has got quite the selection out on the floor right now. We thought these American flag scarfs would be the perfect scarf vest candidate. Once you've got your scarf in hand, unfold it lengthwise.

Don't worry this next step is nothing too complicated. You literally just have to fold the scarf in half. (hamburger style....elementary school reference haha) Now you might be thinking how this is going to ever turn into a vest... just you wait :)

Next, you need to grab the top 2 corners of the scarf and then...

all you have to do is tie a simple knot. It is literally THAT easy. In just 4 quick and easy steps you can take one of the scarfs you've got lying around in your room and transform it into a fun, lightweight vest that would be perfect to throw on over a tank top and your favorite denim shorts.

Voila! I don't know about you, but I'm seriously obsessed with this whole idea! I've been tying every scarf I can find into a vest. I love the fact that they are long and flowy like a kimono, but without the sleeves. These would also make great swimsuit cover ups out on the lake or down by the river this 4th of July. What are you waiting for?? Grab a scarf and give it a try! If you don't have a scarf or are in the market for a new one, swing by Alibi today and have a look at some of the ones we have got out on the floor right now. We would love to help make your scarf vest come to life :) Email us pics of you and your fabulous scarf vest and be featured in one of our upcoming blog posts! Leigh@alibiboutique.com We will be open until 6 today! Stop by and see us :)

How many scarfs is too many scarfs??

XOXO Alibi

P.S. No scarfs were harmed in the making of this tutorial.
